A lovely room at the Hillsdale House Inn has become available for our Fabulous Fall Fibre Retreat coming up the weekend of September 27th.

Our Small Treasures exhibit at the Mym gallery at ARCAC in Annapolis Royal runs from September 8th to October 12th.

Our SOFAAR Fabulous Fall Fibre Retreat is coming up the weekend of September 27th.
The last Inn room has now been taken (August 19th).
However, there is one day-stitching spot still available.

Thirteen participants attended Sam Norgard’s “Broach Approach” beading workshop sponsored by SOFAAR on Sunday, August 11th.
We all came away having learned peyote stitch, brick stitch and stack stitch along with information on beading threads and needles and supplies.
Now, we must all finish our broaches for a future show and tell!
This month’s Saturday Snips gathering will take place at the Oakdene Centre in Bear River between 1 and 4 pm.
We hope to see you there to work on your projects and to show some of your work.
Refreshments will be served.

In this workshop, you will learn to make great felt by implementing such fundamentals as even layout, shrinkage rates, working with a resist and adding a design layer while creating three small projects. You will learn the basic skills you need to move on to more involved projects.

Tuesday, July 30th, is World Embroidery Day and we are going to celebrate!
From 1 to 3 pm we will be out in force to demo all kinds of stitching.
The Courtyard store at 212 St-George St in Annapolis Royal has graciously accepted to host us outside if the weather is fine.
If the weather is not fine, we will gather in the market square under the protection of the stalls.
Please bring a project to work on and some pieces for show.
If you can bring your own chair, that would be wonderful.
We would love to see you there.
World Embroidery Day began in 2011 with the Swedish Embroiderer’s guild. You can read the manifesto here with this link.
This month’s member gathering will take place at the MacDonald Museum on Saturday, July 13th from 1 to 4 pm.
You will be able to show and tell your latest projects, chat with like-minded fibre enthusiasts and also visit the wonderful SOFAAR members’ exhibit on now at the Museum.
The Saturday Snips will take place on the third floor. And yes, there IS an elevator.
